Not everyone loves the same. Not everyone feels love the same. But, luckily, there appears to be a set of common "love languages" that we all fall into.
Love language is just another way to refer to the way someone receives and feels love from you most effectively. When you can learn to master these 5 different types or languages, you can really make a difference in your relationships.
And, it'll blow your fans away as well!
Let's check them out - and see how they apply to adult content creation.
Quality Time
The first is Quality Time. Those who have this language feel the most connection when those they love spend time with them. Since most content creation is remote, this requires a bit of creativity. Actually, they all do!
Share your schedule. Quality time people want to know when you're available. Time and commitments matter.
Notify these people. Give them a way to be notified when something important is happening that would require their attention. This is different than random content or news updates.
Direct attention. This is tough - and everyone deserves attention. These people tend to feel love most when you remind them that you have made time for them. Don't make it sound like a chore - instead - that you've made this time especially for them.
Words of Affirmation
Next, we have Words of Affirmation. These feel loved when you speak to them directly and complimentarily.
Pet names. This person may find a pet name to be a word of affirmation - as long as it's cute! You've went out of your way to call them something additional to their real name, showing that you affirm their value to you.
Awards and goals. Another way to affirm a fan's love is to give them opportunities to win awards and mentions. Your kind words publicly can mean a lot to these people.
Direct response. You want to directly respond to everyone, I understand! And you'll find that love languages do overlap (this will sound a little like quality time...) but they will also do well with some direct attention.
Physical Touch
The physical touch love language can be misunderstood easily. Often it's simplistic in explanation: these people like to touch and be touched. But the real language is far more expansive. These like the physics of love.
Your presence. You may find that these people require your physical presence. With content creation, these are likely the fans that you may meet at gatherings and events. Physically being near to you, a hug, a back rub are all ways to show love while continuing to honor your boundaries.
Your voice. I think physical touch is a limiting explanation for this love language. Your voice is part of being near you. This person loves your voice as it's part of the physical you. Fans like this will love to hear you - so have a great microphone!
Your smell. This comes in a couple of forms. Your smell in person. Your smell on clothes. Your smell on intimate items. These people connect and love through their physical senses.
Receiving Gifts
Ever know someone that you can't seem to buy a gift for? Well, then that person probably doesn't have the receiving gifts love language. Those who do are easy to buy for because you can clearly see how happy gifts make them.
Customized items. Those in your life - and your fans - will love customized items, directly from you. Sure they could get their own coffee cup, but a custom one from you makes the coffee taste better.
Personal stuff. In an overlap with the physical touch person, these people will also love items of your personal collection. The idea that you picked something, just for them, packaged and delivered makes the love feel amazing.
Acts of Service
Acts of service are pretty easy to define "in the real world." These are people who love it when someone steps in and helps them with their workload and their tasks.
If you've went to a friends' house to do some cleaning or you've helped someone move, you've likely given the gift of service.
This requires a bit of creativity to convert to online fans - but it can be done:
Responding timely. If you're working on something for your fan, even if it's not done, knowing that you're working on it will endear you. Give status updates. Not feeling like making content this week? Try telling the fan. You may be surprised that they appreciate your honesty.
Ease of interaction. I get it - we all have our most favorite ways of doing things. But, if a fan likes to communicate differently, maybe your act of service is to use that tool. For example, always message on Instagram but the fan wants OnlyFans? This fan will appreciate your service.
This isn't just about your fans.
This will help you with your personal life as well. Understanding how those around you show and feel love will make you a better connector. And that's what we're here for, right?
